Manchester Women's Electronic Village Hall: Motivating Success: Achieving Ambitions Report

Posted: 10 March 2008

The Manchester Women’s Electronic Village Hall has recently completed a European Social Fund (ESF) research project by Dr Vanessa Hogbin (Strategic Solutions). The report explores the ambitions women have about setting up in business, the extent to which they achieved their amibtions and their experience of business support.

The research reveals that while women have a wide variety of reasons why they decided to set up in business, they often express their ambitions in non-monetary ways. Nevertheless, once self-employed, their overriding motivation is to make money! The findings also highlight the need for expert support for women’s businesses to survive and grow.
