Event: NWeGG Annual Conference, 10 December 2008

The Fourth Annual NWeGG (North West e-Government Group) Conference is squarely aimed at helping authorities to address a number of significant challenges and realize some of the coming opportunities by bringing to the North West many of the leading protagonists of the transformational government agenda.

Local Authorities and their delivery partners are entering unprecedented territory as a result of the Comprehensive Spending Review 2007 efficiency drivers, rising adult social care costs, equal pay, new legislation and hugely rising citizen expectations.

In order to succeed, many authorities have recognized the need to address change in more ambitious ways in order to continue to deliver better services for citizens, staff and taxpayers.

But what works? What capabilities are available to make this happen? Who has successfully done it before? his conference “Lost in Transformation – moving forwards together” will help answer some of those questions.

Speakers at the event include:

  • Alexis Cleveland - The pan public sector Transformational Government lead
  • Lynn McDonald - The lead for the innovative and ground breaking Tell us Once programme
  • Janet Callender - Chief Executive of Tameside MBC and Chair of the Local Government Delivery Council
  • Donna Hall - Chief Executive of Chorley DC and Chair of the esd toolkit
  • Patrick Agius - from the Contact Point core team at the DCSF
  • Peter Blair - from the CLG Efficiency and Better Services Team
  • Paul McGee - noted international business speaker and author of the SUMO series of books

Other notable speakers will be confirmed in the next few days.

This conference is a must-attend for all those committed to supporting transformation of Government so that the public sector can provide better, more efficient and accessible, public services.
